Anthropological Aurora of North East India

Dr. Arifur Zaman, graduated in science with major in Anthropology specializing in Social and Cultural Anthropology, securing first position in first class, received his Ph.D. degree on “An Anthropological Study on Mask of Natun Chamaguri Satra of Majuli, District Jorhat, Assam”, from Gauhati University, Assam. He is currently engaged as Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Dibrugarh University, Assam. He is a recipient of the Gauhati University Gold Medal and R. Das Memorial Award for securing First Class First position in Anthropology in the year 2003. He has been conducting extensive field studies among the various ethno-cultural groups, both tribal and non-tribal in North East India. He is credited with authorship of about thirty research papers in the journals of national and international repute.
