ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rattanlal Hangloo

Healing from Kashmir, Rattanlal Hangloo (b 1954) is a Professor and Head, Department of History, University of Hyderabad. He obtained his M.Phil and Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has received many prestigious fellowship including the DAAD and Fulbright. Professor Hangloo has more than 22 years of teaching and research experience. His other works include Agrarian System of Kashmir (1995), Situating Medieval Indian State (1995) and State in Medieval Kashmir (2000), apart from numerous articles published in international and national journals. His research areas include Central Asia, South Asia with special reference to Kashmir History and Medieval Indian History.
