With increasing advancement in Science and technology the importance of aquatic microbial ecosystem and its exploration has received considerable impetus during the past five decades. Interest in the microbial activities in the freshwater, brackish water and in the marine environment has been increased as a greater scale for their participation in the mineralization, disease outbreak, spoilage and their probiotic values. The book on Aquatic Microbiology attempts a survey of our present knowledge concerning bacteria, fungi and streptomycetes and their role in the lively activities of lakes brackishwater and seas. To condense this into roughly 245 pages a synopsis of young science which is undergoing vigorous developments is, of course, not easy. Exploration of some branches of this subject has only just begun and it is the stepping stone for further developments and to present a comprehensive document. It is an essential reference book for the aquatic microbiologists and an ideal introduction for the beginner, providing detailed information on all aspects of Aquatic Microbiology. Lavishly illustrated with over 50 superb drawings, this book is the result of many years research by the Author.
