Asia, the continent of continents, with its efflorescence of cultures, civilisations, scientific and spiritual attainment, having given so much to the humankind. Our region was crushed by centuries of colonialism. The catastrophic consequences of colonialism affected all the Asian countries, whether they fell directly under colonial domination or retained a semblance of sovereignty. The historic Asian Relations Conference of 1947 symbolised the end of that long period of quiescence. Asia has always been amongst the most seriously afflicted areas of conflict by proxy. The challenge before us is to put an end to all outside intervention and interference, to not allow our countries to become the cockpit of conflicts engineered from outside, at the behest of others and in the interest of others. Only regional cooperation can lead the Asian countries, who’s growth and development get dwarfed by numerous forms of internal as well as external issues, to a bright future. The ideas and messages provided by the first Asian Relations Conference of 1947, participated by distinguished personalities who lead their countries to freedom, fighting injustice, fighting arrogance, has become so relevant in todays’ conflicted and proxy environment. This is the factor which promoted the authors to present the old work before the newer generation. The content of this work definitely will give effective and fruitful guidance to build up new strategies and endeavours for a developed Asia, with peace and prosperity.
