In this book I have provided various guidelines to bring Astrology within the easy grasp of the layman. I have explained in this book the main principles of drawing up the birth charts according to the Indian system as well as the Western system, to appraise the birth charts as well as to judge timings of events on the basis of planetary periods and sub-periods, and transists. I have tried to present, in this book, authentic Astrological information, and its practical application to the needs of humanity. While I have given an outline of the fundamental concepts of Astrology according to Indian system as well as the Western system, I have also explained the workings of both the systems. For the sake of sheer efficiency, I have explained the mathematical portion of Astrology according to Western System, and then, if need be the result converted to Indian System. Theoretical knowledge of Astrology only is not sufficient for one to master the subject. It is through practise, and practise alone, that one can gain more and more practical knowledge of Astrology. Experience, after all, is the best instructor.
