Basic Needs of the Hill People

Present volume is a product of a project study ‘Social and Administrative Response to the Basic needs of Hill people of Himachal Pradesh’, sponsored by the Training Division of the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, government of India. The main aim of the present study is to have a comprehension of the basic needs of the hill people of Himachal Pradesh arising out of their ecosystems and social as well as administrative efforts made for the satisfaction of their needs. As a matter of by product, it also aims at suggesting to the social workers, voluntary agencies, planners and administrators the steps they should take to help the people meet their basic needs. The problems discussed in the present volume concern partly to those of the hill areas and partly to those of the poverty. Approach in the book is not that of an expert in economics and the basic needs but that of a layman having sympathy for the poor of the hill areas. Me
