Basics of Animal Nutrition

The book comprises of three parts. First Part “Principal of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology” comprises of basic topics like history, body composition, nutritional terminology, importance of nutrients, conservation of fodder, processing of roughages and concentrates, antiquality factors and feed additives. Second part is on “Applied Ruminant Nutrition”. This part includes feeding experiments and designs, feeding standards, nutrient requirements of cattle, buffaloes, goat, sheep, bypass nutrients, use of NPN substances and feeding of high yielding animals. Recent topics like TMR, feed block, precision animal nutrition and nutrigenomic are also covered to acquaint the readers with these. Third part covered “Applied Non Ruminant Nutrition” and it comprises of nutrient requirement of poultry, duck, quall, geese, swine, equine, laboratory animals, dogs, cats, and wild birds/animals in captivity. Metabolic disorders and feed additives for non ruminants are also dealt in detail. Inclusion of latest feeding standard of ICAR (2013) is also an added advantage for the readers. Topics are arranged in sequence manner to make relevancy of the topic with others for better understanding of the readers.
