ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ananya Baruya

Dr. Ananya Baruya did her M.A. in Bengali Literature from Calcutta University, West Bengal. She earned M.Phil from the same University and Ph.D. from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. Dr. Baruya is working as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Bengali, University of North Bengal. Currently, she has focused on violence against women in tribal society, where she has conducted research for a total of more than three years with the help of Centre for Women Studies, University of North Bengal. She has participated in several international seminars, workshops and conferences sponsored by the University Grants Commission, organised by the Centre for Women Studies & Department of History, University of North Bengal. Dr. Baruya has been contributing articles to the local journals regularly and has developed a place for herself through her writings. Her another book on Mahasweta Devir Upanyase Jiban Chetana is in active preparation.
