Biodiversity Conservation Plan: Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary

This book deals with assessment of floral and faunal values of Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh. The dry deciduous forest ecosystem in Kaimur is home for a variety of diverse plant, mammalian, avian, reptilian and amphibian communities whose survival is threatened due to large scale anthropogenic activities of human and livestock populations co-inhabiting the landscape. The book is divided into three parts. Part I deals with basic description of biodiversity values of the area. Part II deals with natural resources and attributes with chapters providing information on past management practices, proposed management actions viz-a-viz protection, habitat management, eco-development plan, eco-tourism strategy and research required for developing complete understanding of Kaimur ecosystem. Part III presents the financial estimates to implement the complete conservation strategy for achieving a balance between conservation interests of Kaimur ecosystem and securing livelihood security of indigenous communities.
