ABOUT THE AUTHOR M Monirul H Khan

Dr. M. Monirul H. Khan is a wildlife biologist specializing in research and conservation of tigers. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2004 for this work on the ecology and conservation of the tiger in the Sundarbans of Bangladesh. Afterwards he continued working on the tiger with the Zoological Society of London, UK, and was supported by the Save the Tiger Fund, Bangladesh Forest Department and a few other entities. Currently he serves as Associate Professor of Zoology in Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh, and his activities include reaching and research on various aspects of wildlife and wildlife habitats. He also spends a lot of time in watching and photographing wildlife in Bangladesh and abroad. Dr. Khan is the author of the book Protected Areas of Bangladesh – A Guide to Wildlife (2008), the co-author of Bangladesh Tiger Action Plan 2009-2017 (2009) and the author/co-author of many scientific and popular articles. In this book he has presented his findings on various aspects of tiger of the Sundarbans – the least known to scientists of the world’s tiger – as well as collating a wide range of relevant material from various sources. The book is further enriched by the photographs taken by the author.
