The Andaman and Nicobar groups of tropical islands lying in the Bay of Bengal have tantalized casual bird watchers and seasoned ornithologists alike by the wealth and diversity of their avifauna ever since scientific bird study took root in India around the middle of the 19th century. Many of the most unique and beautiful birds are to be found in these oceanic islands. The isolation of these islands from the mainland has been responsible for high degree of endemism and out of 242 species and subspecies of birds reported from these islands, 95 are endemic. This book Birds of Andaman and Nicobar Islands will help to further interest in this fascinating subject on oceanic birds of these islands and their protection and conservation, among our young readers. The author has provided in this book, colour illustrations of mainly the endemic, migratory and some beautiful species of birds.
