The Maritime Archaeology is a fascinating field of study, which comprises many aspects such as the study of ancient maritime structure, study of ancient ports along the sea coasts and river courses, trade routes, methods of navigation, navigational aids and transportation vehicles which are most important for the maritime links. The present monograph is a compilation of data on the representation of boats and ships in Indian art. An extensive study of sculptures, paintings, clay seals, terracotta and coinage has been attempted.
