Lord Buddha was an enlightened figure and a great son of India. He left his royal comforts in order to emancipate the suffering humanity for all types of sufferings. His teachings and practices are based on Hindu treatises and philosophy, but he was bold enough to discord those precepts which did not fit into the slot of his avowed philosophy. Buddhism is no different from Hindu religion, but Buddha was opposed to Brahminic dictates and also opposed caste system. His message of love, compassion, consideration for the less privileged, code of conduct for the Monks, a disciplined and recluse life are some of the traits of his philosophy which gained roots in China, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, America, England etc. Japanese and Chinese Zen system modified some of his precepts in order to adjust Buddhism in their states. This book deals with life of Buddha, his teachings, practices, philosophy and spread of Buddhism to offer countries Zen…apart from comparing Buddhism with other religions of the world. In a way this book embraces all the facets of Buddhism, as it gives a first hand insight into Buddhism.
