Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka in 250 B.C., which became their national religion from that date. The new religion brought about revolutionary changes in the beliefs, manners, customs and character of the people. Thus Buddhism influenced political, social educational and cultural life of the people of Sri Lanka. Aim of this book is to prepare for our readers a comprehensive and detailed account of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It also describes how this new religion influenced and moulded the destinies of the people of Sri Lanka through the ages.
