It is really a matter of great pleasure that Dr. Zakir Husain and His Contemporaries Archives and Portrait Gallery, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, is bringing out its first volume of Calendar of Dr. M.A. Ansair’s Correspondence starting from 9th June 1911 to 12 October 1935. The archives was built during the period of Lt. Gen. M.A. Zaki, when he was the vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Then Mr. Syed Shahid Mahdi, former Vice Chancellor of Jamia and Mr. Syed Shahid Mahdi, former Vice Chancellor of Jamia took keen interest for giving it the present shape, with the help of Prof. S.A.I. Tirmizi as its first Honorary Director. Now our present Vice Chancellor Prof. Mushirul Hasan is taking keen interest in the development of Archives. We are grateful to all of them for their kind support and encouragement.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.M. Azizuddhin Husain

Azizuddin Husain, is Professor of History at the Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His works includes Kalimat-I-Taiyibat, a collection of Aurangzebâ€™s orders (1982), Kalimat-I-Aurangzeb (1983), Tazkiratul Umara of Kewal Ram (1985), Raqaim-I-Karaim, a collection of Aurangzebâ€™s epistles (1990) and Medieval Towns â€“ A Case study of Amroha and Jalali (1995). Presently he is working on two research projects â€“ â€˜Mir Saiyid Ali Hamadani â€“ His Life and Worksâ€™, and the Introduction and Development of Unani Mediciine in India during the Medieval Period.
