Challenge and Counter-Challenge: US-Japan Trade Relation

The present volume deals with the subtle, pervasive and interactable challenge that the US faces from Japan. The US is threatened with the loss of the technological and economic supremacy it has enjoyed throughout the twentieth century. Technology, productivity and economic performance are the means by which Americans create national wealth and international power and they have long taken for granted, their pre-eminent economic strength and technological mastery. However, history is now happening to the United States. The Japanese have confronted them with history. Japan has mounted a national effort to become the most technologically advanced and economically powerfull nation in the world.
