This book is based on my doctoral work which was based on translation and adaptation of revised Denver Developmental Screening Test into Hindi as well as to establish Indian norms for the development for Urban middle class children in the age range of three to thirty six months. Development Screening is a newly emerging concept with particular emphasis on infants and pre-school children. The incidence of diagnosed cased of handicap (mental retardation) rises dramatically at the age of school entrance because this is often the time that a child abilities are assessed objectively. Norms were prepared on over 800 subject in the age range of three to thirty six months. The developmental Quotient was found to have normal distribution similar to that of IQ. A comparative study is also made to find out if our children are compatible in development as compared to children from USA, UK and Japan. The findings of the study have immense implications for Pediatricians,, developmental Psychologists, Educationists interested in how’s and whys of delayed development (which ultimately affect school performance) and policy makers who visualize a better future for today’s child. This book would be a good addition for the libraries of clinicians, teachers as well as teacher educators.
