BRICS initiative is gathering momentum in global affairs impacting on the global and regional orders. As a trans-continental, inter-governmental, consultative and multilateral emerging nations grouping, the BRICS agenda proved to be extensive, cooperative and all-round in nature touching upon issues of global and regional, traditional and non-traditional security issues, financial, monetary and market-related aspects.
Through its substantive essays, this volume offers a range of perspectives about China`s interactions with the BRICS and the implications for the global order. The book is a collection of twelve chapters, which addresses many key aspects of the multilateral initiative, with the focus being directed to analyzing the prospects and challenges for the group in the coming years.
The volume – the first of its kind by China focused scholars – is divided into two sections- the first is thematic, which deals with the broad issues of global governance and its debates; the second section focuses on the intra-BRICS relationships. Beginning with China`s multilateral diplomacy, the book explores key debates in global governance that involves the rise of emerging powers, especially India and China, the issue of perception and reality, and the roles played by media and think tanks in institutionalizing the initiative as an effective representative of `south-south` cooperation. BRICS main focus areas on economy, energy and cyber security issues are extensively dealt with in this volume. In its second part, the volume has dealt with bilateral relations, where the individual relations between China and the other BRICS countries are being analysed.
