Civil Societies and Socio-Cultural Harmony in Assam

The present volume on Civil Societies and Socio-Cultural Harmony in Assam is a collection of 23 papers presented at a UGC sponsored National Seminar on Role of Civil Societies in Maintaining Socio- Cultural Harmony in the state of Assam, organised by the Department of Political Science, Pandu College, Guwahati, Assam in association with Assam College Teachers’ Association, Kamrup Metro Zone, Guwahati, Assam as an attempt to analyse the role of civil societies in maintaining social integration in different parts of the region. This book reflects on some of the important aspects such as relevance of civil societies, woman organisations working for social harmony, role of NGOs, civil societies and protection of community rights, civil societies and social conflicts, etc. Moreover, it also gives a look to the issues related to the policies, strategies for maintaining socio-cultural harmony in the region.
