This book is an attempt to study whether the cognitive abilities of the child i.e. the development of memory, thinking, perceiving, planning etc. are related to social deprivation. It also studies the extent to which the classroom climate in the school influence the development of conservation and concept formation abilities exposed to the children belonging to various levels of social deprivation. The findings suggest that the socially deprived children lag behind their non-deprived counterparts in the development of cognitive abilities. By providing facilitative climate in the classroom, students can be helped to become self-directive after personal counseling.
