Padmabhushan Prof. J.P. Naik was placed by UNESCO in the honour-roll of World Educators. He was a reformer, scholar, visionary, unconventional administrator and passionate advocate of education as a means of social justice and development. He wrote several articles, books, reports of commissions and committees, etc. He was the chief architect of the comprehensive report of the education Commission (1964-66). He worked as an advisor to the Education Ministry. Govt. of India, Member Secretary of ICSSR. He founded the famous Indian Institute of education. There three volumes are a collection of his writings and lecturers on topics of various educational reforms from primary to higher education, policy studies and developmental reforms.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.S. Babu
Dr. A.S. Babu, a first rank holder in M.A. worked in the area of Philosophy of education for his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. J.P. Naik. He has several Publications in this area as well as other related areas such as philosophy of science, philosophical foundations of education, development aspects in rural areas in fields of adult literacy, primary and secondary school teachers, research methodologies, etc. he has guided several students for M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees, and also participated in national and International Conferences and seminars.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Yeshwant R. Waghmare
Dr. Yeshwant R. Waghmare, former professor and dean at IIT, Kanpur, is a theoretical nuclear scientist. He worked with the Nobel laureate (late) Maria G. Mayer at the university of California, San Diege, and MIT, Mass., USA. He lectured as Visiting Professor in several universities and research institutions abroad. He is with the Indian Institute of Education, Pune, as a Member of Board of Trustees, for the last about five years. An ex-president of the India Association of Physics teacher, he is also the vice-chairman of Maharashtra education Society, and president of Vidya Mahamandal, Pune. He is Fellow of Maharashtra cademy of Science as well as the national Academy of science. He was also member of Academic Council of Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
