Islam, although confirming that men and women do share in the same essence of humanity, also confirms that men and women are different. The Islam teats women as the spiritual and intellectual equals of men, though it makes distinction between them on the basis of physical realm and division of labour. In Islam, both men and women have well-defined roles in family as well as society. "Comparative Status of Muslim Women" presents status of Muslim women both as revealed in religious texts as well as in modern context. Describing religious, economic, social, political, civil, marital, familial and human aspects of Muslim women in detail, the book attempts at a comparison of status, rights and obligations of Muslim, Christian and Judaeo-Christian women and arrives at the conclusion that Muslim woman enjoys a high status in family and society.
