This aims to examine the concept of kingship as reflected in the dramas of Kalidas. Explaining the institution of State and Kingship, it analyses the role of king in the administration, tax and revenue system and punishment as described in Arthasastra and Manusmriti.
It further makes an in-depth study of the institution of Kingship and socio-political condition of the state as depicted in the important dramas of Kalidas. The dramas of Kalidas studied in this book include Malavikagnimitram, Vikramorvasiyam and Abhijnanasakuntalam. The technical terms used by Kalidas related to the king are appended as well.
