The English translation of this book is a novice effort of the translator. It was inspired, not by professional curiosity but through some chance spiritual inquisitiveness for Swantah Sukhay (Self-satisfaction), the general spirit of Ramacharitamanas. During the translation, the Author continuously experienced tediousness and enormity of the task in hand. Like any other translator, his dilemma was, how to bring the closest proximity to the text and coherence with the writer’s feelings and his intellectual thinking. Love for Ramayan was inherited from the loving and religious parents and was reinforced through the noble association of people like Shri L.P. Vyas, the writer of the original book. In fact, the inspiration for indulging in this translation also came through him only, not by his direction but in his presence just volunteering for it. In the line of English translation, the one important effort has been the translation of the Ramcharitamanas into English verse, which is still in the manuscript stage. Despite of best and sincere efforts the readers may find it lacking in so many ways. The credit belongs to Shri Ramji and the illustrious writer of the text Shri L.P. Vyas ji.
