The text provides a comprehensive introduction to a vide ranging panorama of the ideas, theories and assumptions on which the study of conflict resolution is based. The book gives a theoretical foundation of the forms and causes of conflicts resolution. Hence, it presents the conceptual analysis of conflict resolution in its broadest form. With this perspective in mind the present study aims to analyze all conflicts which have much in common; How do explanatory models differ if we try to generalize from interpersonal conflicts to international ones, or from those involving extreme violence to much more benign behaviours; Is there any really general theory of conflict possible, with each of the diverse forms of conflicts being submitted as a special case; is it necessary to treat international and international conflicts as totally distinct; How can a general theory of conflict be constructed, given the distinctive bodies of literature that have developed around each of these very different kinds of conflicts; Can the important differences among such for ms of conflict be incorporated into a general theory; can we make use of a single body of concepts or variables that pertain such a variety of different forms; and what if such a general theory cannot be constructed? Does this mean that we will require a different theory for each and every type of conflict about some new form of conflict by studying past ones. This is what this book wants to emphasise.
