Consequences of Child Maltreatment

Child maltreatment is an extremely diffuse and complex phenomenon that includes physical, sexual and psychological violence, as well as deprivation and neglect of children. It have known detrimental effects on the physical, psychological, cognitive, and behavioural development of children and these adverse effects accumulate over time. Effective prevention of child maltreatment requires multi-level interventions that simultaneously address risk factors at different levels.
