Continued sprout in annual oilseeds production in India speaking to 21.8 million tons during 1993-94, a record after more than, 40 years, appears to have amenated from the concerted research efforts of practical relevance, transfer of appropriate and location specific technology and to some extent due to the incentives provided to the oilseed growers time to time. At this juncture, our efforts must concentrate on sustainability of oilseeds production through yields acceleration programme from neglected areas, marginal and sub-marginal lands with poor fertility inputs, starved conditions and the management of abiotic factors. In view of the importance of abiotic factors in influencing the yield and quality of oilseeds the present compilation has been broughtout at last 25 years of world literature. In part I of the book the literature on annual oilseeds has been reviewed in concised and recommendatory forms in reference to major abiotic stresses whilst in part II, the literature has been represented by 1771 abstracts collected from national and international sources. The book contains world’s more than 90% literature on oilseeds in respect of major abiotic factors. It is hoped that the compilation will prove as an excellent reference book and a rich wealth of oilseeds literature to the Ph.D. Scholars, scientists and professionals engaged in oilseeds development programme world over.
