Vegetable classification as defined by western culture derives in part from pre-scientific attitudes about the mythic world to which those plants belonged to antiquity. Development of improved variety and wider adaptability and standardisation for their production technologies for various agro-climatic conditions has made it possible to produce vegetables in wider areas and has improved the prospects of their supply tremendously.
