Cultural Enrichment of Indian Education" is a very thought provoking title. It is a well accepted fact that Bharat is one of the most ancient countries of the world. She has evolved a unique life style since the time immemorial. This wholesome vision of life has made it immortal and invincible. This way of life is called culture. Bharat remained Bharat inspite of many external political and cultural invasions. Even in the days of external rule Bharat retained its uniqueness, where as several nations lost their entity. Bharatiya culture has its root in the Vedas. Bharatiya Rishis contributed in every field of knowledge – science, technology, architecture, art, music, sculpture, mathematics, philosophy, politics and economics. Besides various material sciences she explored the reality lying in the root of entire objective world. This reality is ‘Brahma’, ‘Atman,’ or pure consciousness. This is a spirituality has been the core of Bharatiya Culture. The life in Bharat has been guided by ‘Dharma’ and is based on ‘Dharma’. Basing on ‘Dharma’ one could follow the material persuits in the name of ‘Artha’ and ‘Kama’ leading to the highest goal of life ‘Moksha’. These ideas, ideals, virtues and values have been transmitted from generation to generation by education. The present scenario of our country is not in tune with our cultural traditions. The youth today is misled in the name of modernisation and industrialisation. In place of spiritual approach we have adopted materialistic way of life and we are faced to various problems like terrorism, violence, youth unrest, educated unemployment, corruption in every walk of life. The education is running on English pattern without caring for the healthy and desired development of our future citizens. It needs to be rooted in the soil of this land. It has been tried in each chapter of the book to point out the elements which can take the education of our country tuned with out cultural heritage. Thus our present and coming generations will be proud of being born on this sacred land of Bharat and also will feel indebted to saint ancestors and the glorious heritage.
