Barak Valley having three districts viz. Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj. It is a natural extension of the Bengal plains with the socio-economic milieu similar to that of Bengal. Whereas Karbi Anglong is one of the Hill district of Assam having an autonomous council under the 6th Schedule of the Constitution of India with the headquarters at Diphu.
