The dictionary of Aquaculture is an effort to keep pace with the rapid development and expanding vocabulary of the subject. Aquaculture has made tremendous development in last few decades. It is a multidisciplinary subject which includes agriculture, veterinary sciences, soil sciences, economics, chemistry, engineering etc. A need of dictionary on the subject was realised long back when I was student and later on when teaching fisheries to veterinary science under-graduates. This dictionary has been designed by keeping the needs of students and researchers of the subject. It will be also useful for teachers, scientists, development officers of the state departments, and many others interested in the subject. It includes the most frequently used terms which has been selected from different sub-group of fishery science, including aquaculture, craft and gear, fish pathology, microbiology etc. An attempt has been made to write the terms in a clear and lucid style understandable even to non-specialists but consistent of the term.
