A prolific writer, Dr. Satya Vrat Shastri, has enriched Sanskrit and Indological literature with a number of his research studies. Apart from books, he has published a sizeable number of articles in journals and commemoration and felicitation volumes. It was thought desirable to bring out a compendium of them. Also thought desirable was to bring to light a big corpus of his writings which are still in manuscript. The research material presented here is vast I quantity and unique in quality. The studies in the present seven volumes cover practically all major disciplines of Sanskrit and Indology. About half a dozen of them extend upto about a hundred pages each implying thereby that the present volumes have six independent monographs in them. Some of the studies like the linguistic appraisal of the Yogavasistha, the analysis of the etymologies in the Mahabharata, the Yogavasistha and the devibhagavata-purana, the study of Sanskrit Synonyms, the delineation of human values with definitions of human values with definitions from ancient texts, the linguistic appraisal of the 20th century Sanskrit literature preceded by its detailed account, the description of the modern Christian literature in Sanskrit and an account of the puja and ritual in the bali island of Indonesia and that of the cultural excursions in the countries of Southeast Asia are the very first of their kind. This is true of the large components of other studies as well which goes well with Dr. Satya vrat Shastri’s habit for ex-ploring new areas. His studies, therefore, are refreshingly original and compel attention.
