The book begins with the history of men’s oppression towards women from womb to death and discrimination against women in India, although there are laws of protection of women under the constitution and woman-related laws. It has illustrated the judicial response to gender justice (gender issue) in favour of women by citing decisions of the Supreme Court of India. However, despite plethora of laws the position of women is no better than ever and therefore strict enforcement of existing laws is required, but then again law alone is not sufficient to fight the evils of gender issue unless there is contribution of individuals and community for the full enjoyment of women’s right. The book has also dealt with women’s inability to exercise a given right in certain circumstances, and it has also referred to international instruments of women’s rights and world conferences on the status of women and obstacles to the advancement of women, and also measure for removal of those obstacles.
