The book deals with the diseases of primarily cultivated annual oilseeds i.e., repeseed-mustard, groundnut, linseed, castor, safflower, sesame, sunflower and niger-seed. This book has been prepared to update the world’s achievements of the 20th century in disease management strategies of oilseed crops. The book includes the diseases of economic importance caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses, viriods, phytoplasma and nematodes of each crop. Each disease is covered under sub-headings i.e., history, geographical distribution, losses incurred, symptoms, diagnostic technique, disease cycle, epidemiology, resistant sources and integrated disease management approaches including, cultural, chemical, and biocontrol agents being adopted world over. In addition to this, latest approaches like molecular advancement in disease-resistant cultivars through biotechnological approaches, export and import of oilseeds for breeding programmes after the imposition of WTO to produce disease-free quality seed through strict phytosanitary measures have been discussed. The chapters are vividly illustrated with coloured photographs of typical symptoms and drawings to make the diseases cycle more interesting and easy to understand by UG and PG students, scientists, planners, administrators, growers and other end-users with latest pertinent references. The book includes latest diagnostic tools and management strategies of almost all economically important diseases of oilseed crops at one place.
