There are 75 Primitive Tribes in India living in different ecological zones. This book is based on a study carried out among the Saharia, the only Primitive Tribe of Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, the Saharia have inhabited in Shahabad and Kishanganj tehsils of Baran District. The extensive and intensive fieldwork was carried out by the author during a period of 8 months (Sep. 1999-April 2000). The data analysed in the book revealed that there exists a relationship between ecology, culture and health among Saharia. Health is very intimately connected with ecology and culture. Therefore, this study will help in understanding of health problems and health care system of community using holistic and interactive approach. As there is no study on Saharia emphasizing on ecological, cultural and health aspect, this study has been carried out for improving their health and hygiene conditions. The painstaking effort undertaken for this book will be extremely useful to the scholars, policy makers, social scientists, NGO workers and administrators working among the tribal and ethnic groups in India and abroad.
