He specialised in the subject from the University of Princeton, U.S.A., and is a leading expert on Chinese Population. He has several books and Chinese Population. He is a specialist on Population Policy, Social Development, Methodology, Ecology, Gerontology and communication. He is author of 30 books. Dr. V Balakrishnan Nair is currenlty working as Deputy Director in the Bureau of Economics and Statistics, (Government of Kerala) Trivandrum. he received a doctrate in population studies from S.V. University, Tirupati. Prior to taking up his present charge, Dr. Nair, was Manpower Officer, Directorate of Health Services (Govt. of Kerala), Statistician, Health and Family Welfare Training Centre, Trivandrum, Project Co-ordinator, Department of Economics, University of Calicut and Reseaerch Officer, Population Research Centre, Department of Demography and Population Studies, University of Kerala. He has written a number of articles and contributed papers to several seminars and symposia.
