ABOUT THE AUTHOR V.V.N. Somayajulu

Professor V.V.N. Somayajulu is the Dean, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad and Professor of Economics (with experience of teaching and research guidance for 36 years of which 20 years at the Central University of Hyderabad, CUH). He completed 20 research studies sponsored by the University Grants Commission, Indian Council of Social Science Research, Government of India and of States, University of Hyderabad and at NCAER, New Delhi: and taught at Gokhale Institute, Pune, Madurai University, Indian Institute of Economics, J.N.T. University, Hyderabad and at Central School of Planning and Statistics (CSPS), Warsaw, 1985-1986; and at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, a semester 1991. He organised six All India Conferences/Seminars on themes of his specialisation viz., Industrial Economics, Applied Econometrics and Planning Models of inter-industry economics for development of less developed regions/states in India. He is Executive Council Member 1998-2001, School Board Member, 1985 onwards; its Chairman; 1998-2001; was the Head, Department of Economics 1988-1991; at Central University of Hyderabad; Visiting Professor, CSPS, WARSAW, for one year 1985-1986, and at BITS, Pilani 1991; U.G.C. Visiting Fellow at University of Economic Science, Berlin 1979 and at S.V. University P.G. Centre 1989; and received Medal from Rector, CSPS, Warsaw, Fellowship and many academic distinctions; and research assignments from reputed academic bodies. He is Editorial Member of Journal of Quantitative Economics, Asian Economic Review; and Member of Executive Councils of All India Input-Output Research Association (AIORA), The Indian Econometric Society, (TIES), Regional Science Association of India (RSAI) etc; Life Member of Indian Economic Association, A.P. Economic Association, AIORA, TIES, RSAI etc, Chairman, Technical sessions and contributor to their annual conferences/seminars. Five of his books and 70 research papers have been published.
