The book addresses some important issues in Indian economic development during the post-Independence period. It examines the performance of the economy in general and the agricultural sector in particular, structural break in different sectors of the economy, sustainable development in agriculture, regional divergence in per capita income and agricultural output and productivity, inter-state variations in rural poverty and human development, and spatial integration, in foodgrain markets.
