ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jacob Aikara

Jacob Aikara is Professor in the Unit for Research in the Sociology of Education, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He has been engaged in research in the field of sociology of education for the last three decades. He has completed several empirical studies, particularly of elementary and adult education in India. His publications include: 1979-88,Innovations in Higher Education in India, Scheduled Castes and Higher Education and Ideological Orientation of Student Activism.
