Seeking opinion has always been a preferred action of the intelligence. It causes no harm, rather, if a step is taken after proper counseling and analyzing different opinions, it always bears fruit. As for the education, its scope has widened considerably. If we take, for example, the discipline of science, it has over two hundred branches. In such a situation, a student, after having completed his/her schooling, often confronts problem of choosing a right discipline, which may yield better results. To serve the purpose, educationists have set up a separate discipline, namely,’ Educational Counseling’. The counselors at the helm are enjoined upon the task of providing best of the opinions they have after analyzing the circumstances of the client Though a challenging job, it has bright prospects. This work is aimed at providing sufficient stuff for the counselors as well as the counselees. A ready reference, for the great job. Hopefully, it would be appreciated and welcomed amidst the concerned people warmly. Positive criticism is always welcome and would be appreciated.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Kapil Dev
Born in the family of a junior engineer at Jammu Tawi in April, 1930. The firm faith, in the "reformation Movement" of Swami Dayanand, made his father to send him to Gurukul Kangri, Haridwar, for receiving his fundamental education. He studied in Gurukul Kangri, and Gurukul Kurukshetra, for seven years in the rich environment of Vedic Culture. Thereafter, he graduated from the Punjab University for his Master's Degree in Psychology and Education. Through out his professional career, which he began as a lecturer in Guidance and counseling, at state college of education, Patiala, he has been associated with the cause of Teacher Education in the State of Punjab. Soon, he was called upon to work as a Senior Assistant Counselor at the Punjab Government Bureau of Educaitonal and Vocational guidance, Chandigarh, he had various stints at Government Colleges or Education in the Punjab; where besides teaching Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Methodology of research and Statistics, Measurement and Evaluation in Psychology and Education, to the graduates aspiring to serve the cause of education, he guided to Research Projects of a number of M.Ed. students. For a short-while he was trusted with a teaching Assignment in Government College, Hoshiarpur, Wherefrom he was elevated as a Principal. He served as a Principal at Government Colleges of Education, Faridkot and Jalandhar, before laying down his office.
