Taking first few, halting steps to wards a theory of relationships, the present book offers rational, holistic understanding of the Sphinx-like riddles that often surround both human nature and relations. Influenced by the thoughts of a host of Western thinckers such as Plato, Aristotle, Euclid, Vico, Nietzsche, Marx, Kierkegaard, Heidegger, Sartre, Jung, Fromm et al, this book is, in fact, more in the nature of ‘literary anthropology.’ Digging deep into the archives of Western thought and Albee’s dramatic oeuvre, all at once, it seeks to put in place a certain order of classification, which has as much relevance to the American society/culture as it has outside it. Something of an epistemological exercise, this book offers refreshingly new insights into how conceptual understanding of a subject as complex as relationships could be organized effectively, that too, in an easy-to-grasp, comprehensible language. Dr. Nayar explores the psycho-dynamics of human relations with the incisiveness of a psychoanalyst, clinical objectivity of a scientist and the prescience of a meticulous researcher.
