ABOUT THE AUTHOR B Gangwar
Dr. B. Gangwar, presently working as Principal Scientist (Agronomy) and Programme Facilitator (Cropping System Management) at Project Directorate for Cropping Systems Research, Modipuram. He has severed as Project Coordinator (Agronomy/Diaraland) also. Dr. Gangwar recipient of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad Award (1986-87) Outstanding Agronomic contributions in Remote area of Andaman-Nicobar Islands. He has series of recognitions to his credit such as Fellow of Indian Society of Agronomy for outstanding contributions in the field of Agronomy, Fellow of Indian Society for Coastal Agricultural Research for outstanding scientific contributions in coastal areas and Fellow of Society for Recent Developments in Agriculture for outstanding contributions in cropping systems research. he has served as founder General Secretary, Andaman Science Association for 5 years; Joint Secretary, Indian Society Agronomy (1999-02); Editor-in-Chief, J. Andaman Science Association (1996-99); Journal of Farming Systems Research and Development (1999-2005); Editor, Agronomy News (1999-2000); Agronomy Digest (2002); Indian J. Agronomy (2003 & 2004); Member, Editorial Board, 20d International Agronomy Congress (2002) and Indian J Crop Science (2006 to date). He has 268 scientific contributions in his credit involving 100 research papers, 102 popular articles, 13 chapters in books 11 books/manuals, 14 research/ extension bulletins and 28 edited publications.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR P. Devasenapathy
Dr. P. Devasenapathy, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Agronomy, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, has 25 years of teaching, research and extension experience. He completed his B.Sc. (Ag.) during 1979 and M.Sc. (Ag.) during 1981. He obtained Ph.D. during 1994 from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore-3 with specialization in cropping system research and soil fertility. He worked in various disciplines like Water Technology Centre, Training Division and Energy Requirement Scheme. Presently working as Chief Agronomist of the AICRP on cropping systems and Principle Investigator for Organic Farming Scheme at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Visited IRRI, Philippines under AHRD-FAO fellowship for training on nutrient management in rice based cropping system and Scilanka for International Conference. He has 60 research papers in both national and international journals to his credit and guiding Post Graduate and Ph.D. Students of Agronomy. He has participated in several trainings, symposium, seminars and conferences at national and international levels. He has handled World Bank projects and coordinated for the development of policy documents to Government of Tamil Nadu.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR T. Ramesh
Dr. T. Ramesh is Research Associate in the Department of Agronomy, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. He completed both M.Sc. (Ag.) and Ph.D. in Agronomy in the same institution with distinction during 2001 and 2004 respectively with a specialization in natural resources management in rainfed agriculture. He is recipient of Indian Overseas Bank Prize and Tmt. K. Rangammal Award for Best M.Sc. (ag.) Agronomy student. He has received MS. Swaminathan Research Foundation Fellowship for perusing Ph.D. degree. He has also recipient of Prof. S. Subramanian & Dr. K.K. Subbiah Award and Gold medal for the Best Ph.D. Student in Agronomy. His research paper has awarded first prize for best presentation of poster in ICAR National Symposium on " Input Use Efficiency in Agriculture-Issues and Strategies" at Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur. At present, he is actively involved in research on aerobic rice and teaching in the field of Agronomy. He has published 10 research articles, one technical bulletin and several popular articles to his credit.
