The book familiarises readers with the basic concepts of entomology and provides insights on different aspects of insect life and impact with reference to plants, animals and humans. It discusses morphology, anatomy, adaptation for survival and defence and classification of insects especially parasitic insects which cause harm to plants and animals. It delves into the economic role of insects with reference to those whose products are used such as the honeybee, silk worm and lack insect. It delves into pest management efforts covering use of chemicals for plant protection, toxicology of pesticides and compatibility of pesticides. The economic role, nature of harm caused to crops and control of non-insect pests, mainly nematodes and mites, are also covered. The text is supported by numerous illustrations (drawings).
