Education has been the most important characteristics of human society. Man has always tried to educate himself and his progeny in both theory and practice of the art and science of life. The pioneers and the advocates of education in every country have presented own methodology of teaching Starting with Plato and Aristotle, eminent Western educationists, including Ignatious Loyla, Jhon Amos Comenius, John Locke, Pestalozzi, Jean Jacque Rousseau, John Freiderich Herbart, /Friedrich August Froebel, Maria Montessory and John Dewey, presented, analysed and improved methodology of teaching different subjects. In India, starting from the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Brahmanas the philosophers of six systems upto contemporary great educationists indlucing Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, M.K. Gandhi, Rabindra Nath Tagore, S. Radhakrishnan and M.N. Roy presented methodologies of teaching different subject. The present work entitled Encyclopaedia of Teaching Methodology, analyss, describes and evaluates Teaching Methodology in two volumes. This first volume includes description and evaluation of teaching methodology of Science and Mathematics. The second volume deals with Teaching Methodology in Social Science. Thus this work in two volumes covers the entire panorama of uptodate human knowledge of Methodology of teaching Needless to say that is shall prove a prized possession for every serious educator, teacher and student of education. However, the author claims only originality of efforts and approach and not the matter which has been gathered from authentic sources, presented in an analytic style and developed in a synthetic frame work. If it could be successful in enlightening even some readers in the ramifications of teaching methodology, the author’s efforts will be amply rewarded.
