English-Arabic and Arabic-English Dictionary

This English-Arabic and Arabic-English dictionary in one volume has been prepared for the use of schools especially. It is believed that the work of students will be much facilitated by having the two parts together. Great care has been taken to select words of most frequent occurrence in the two languages and to render the definitions as concise as possible and yet include their essential and common uses. In order to bring the work within reasonable compass, most of the plurals of the Arabic words in the English-Arabic part have been omitted. They will generally be found in the Arabic-English portion. The order of words in the latter is that of most Arabic dictionaries, viz; the verbal form of the root first and then its derivatives. A third edition being required a large number of words have been added and the whole work has been revised.
