Environment and Ancient Sanskrit Literature

Environment and pollution have been the hottest topics of debate for the last decade, with various groups—developed countries, developing countries, scientists, NGOs, prophesizing their own theories and curative measures. This book seeks to enunciate the concept of protection of environment on a permanent basis, as contained in our ancient Sanskrit scriptures. The answers to all the questions relating to the protection of environment are very clearly detailed in our ancient Sanskrit literature. Bhagavad Gita has envisaged mutual cooperation and interdependence as the key to preserve environment in its pure form. Yajurveda, Artharveda, Kautilya’s Arthasastra, Vedas etc. have propounded sermons and methodology to keep the environment pure and soothing. The underlying theme of the books is that the knowledge contained in our ancient texts is much more relevant today and seeks to unravel the mysteries of nature for which the modern science is still grapping for suitable explanation. The book liberally quotes shlokas and verses from ancient Sanskrit literature and interprets the divine message to suggest ways and means for improving environmental consciousness.
