The book describes about the effect of various environmental factors on the reproductive system of human beings and experimental animals. The book opens with the description of the normal human reproductive system and the functions of different organs both in males and females. It is a lucid mixture of conventional environmental exposures like chemicals and pollutants and the recent exposures at workplace such as shift work and electromagnetic radiations. The mechanism for the reproductive toxicity caused by these factors is nicely explained in a chapter on oxidative stress. It also put an insight into newer concepts like REACH for preventing the ill effects of environmental exposures on reproductive system. Thus it is a right choice for all those engaged in the field of toxicology especially reproductive toxicology.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.R. Tiwari
Dr. R. R. Tiwari (Born 1970) is working as Scientist C in the Occupational Medicine Division of National Institute of Occupational Health. He did his MBBS (1994) and MD in Preventive and Social Medicine (1997) from Nagpur University. His vast experience in the field of Occupational and Environmental Health is substantiated by the publications in the international and national journals of the field. He has about 119 publications to his credit. He has taken several projects funded by agencies like Ministry of Health, Government of India, Environmental Protection Agency, USA and International Labour Organization. In addition he is life member of several associations.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sunil Kumar
Dr. Sunil Kumar teaches in the Department of History, Delhi University. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University in 1992. His book ‘The Emergence of the Delhi Sultanate 1190-1290’ is in press. Meanwhile he has completed another manuscript titled, ‘Sites of Power and Resistance: A Study of Sultanate Monumental Architecture’. Dr. Kumar resides in Saket, in South Delhi, near the sites discussed in this book.
