Environmental issues are now central to the development debate in the twenty first century. These now relate to many political, social and economic problems. A complete knowledge of these issues is not only essential for policy makers and administrators but also for the common man. Realising the need, this has been included in the new syllabus of not only Civil Services but also at the state level examinations.

The core topics covered in this book are Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity, Climate Change and Sustainable Development. Written in a clear and non-technical style, it covers major global issues such as deforestation, pollution, energy, climate change, global warming, food production, loss of biodiversity, waste management, sustainability etc. Providing a comprehensive understanding on all these topics, the book is further supported by multiple-choice questions for students appearing for various competitive examinations. The book will also be useful for students of environmental science and lay readers as well.
