Issues Concerning environment now worry, scientists but statesmen, Administrators and general public as well. A pressing need ha been felt to educate the common man about problems of environment we are likely to face so as to speedily achieve the foal of sustainable development. Environmental studies have been introduced in syllabus of schools, college and universities all over the world. However, much information concerning problems of environment lies scattered in various research publications, which are beyond the reach of common students. “Environment Studies†tried to present a simple, comprehensible, well illustrated and documented account of the issues concerning environment. The book is meant for those who have a little background knowledge of science and biology, largely the students of universities and colleges who should find in exceedingly helpful in their studies of universities and collage who should find it exceedingly helpful in their studies for annual or competitive examinations. However, even those without, background knowledge of science and biology shall find a wealth of simple, easily comprehensibly information on the subjects in the book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ram Kumar Gurjar
Dr. Ram Kumar Gurjar is currently teaching in the Department of Geography, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He was awarded “Young Scienctist Award, 1991†by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India for his research work on Water and Irrigation Management with Special Reference to Rajasthan. Dr. Gurjar is also the author of over a dozen books relating to Agriculture Geography, Water and Land Management and Rural Development etc. Presently, he is engaged in a research work on Water and Land Resources Management through Remote Sensing.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shuchi Mathur
Dr. Shuchi Mathur born in 1976 at Ajmer (Rajasthan) was educated in Maharani College and University of Rajasthan where she took her M.A. (1998) and Ph.D. (2002) degrees in Geography. Before completing her doctoral research work on problem relating to use of Remote Sensing in Water Management, she completed her P.G. Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS in 2000 from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing. Dept. of Space, GOI, Dehradun as sponsored candidate of University of Rajasthan and diploma in computer from Malyiva Regional Engineering College. Dr. Shuchi Mathur, completed three years research work in the field of social science as Research Assistant in Social Policy Research Institute, Jaipur where she was associated with important assignments like Preparation of State Development Report and Regional Inequalities in State sponsored by Planning Commission, New Delhi. Presently, she is working Executive Environment Planning, State Pollution Control Board. She has published ten research papers on various aspects of environment and remote sensing and attended various national and international conferences.
