This compendium of 29 papers attempts to address the key issues concerning inequality of opportunities in the context of social and human development. Analyzing the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in achieving equal opportunity for socio-economic backward class people, it examines the relevance of codification of customary law in elimination of gender and religious discrimination in tribal societies, natural language processing for disability, and inclusive rural governance system in Nepal.
It also discusses at length the gender and religious discrimination, gender gap in primary schooling, child labour, gender disparity in literacy rate, the impact of disparity on socio-economic development, the rights of disabled persons, racial profiling and gender discrimination in media culture. The role of women in bringing social peace, justice and socio-economic empowerment has been analysed as well.
